LPC (Trull) Ltd have been successful in achieving a unanimous resolution by the Planning Committee at Wiltshire Council to grant outline planning permission for the erection of six houses, a village hall and tennis courts at Latton.
This followed a previous refusal for a scheme that proposed nine houses on a slightly larger site. Both schemes involved the local community, the Parish Council and the Ward Councillor but the application was recommended for refusal on policy grounds.
However, the Committee accepted the views put forward on behalf of the applicants and the local community that the scheme represented an appropriate and beneficial use of land and resolved to grant planning permission provided that archaeological excavations did not reveal any finds that would preclude development. These were subsequently undertaken, and a legal agreement will be prepared to ensure the provision of land for and financial assistance towards the new hall and tennis court.
